High School Subjects

Math

Our default high school curriculum follows the traditional sequence of Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2. Students who are applying to competitive universities or are planning careers in science or engineering should consider adding a fourth course in Precalculus or another branch of math. (Prealgebra and other math electives may be added from the Add Courses page of your account.)

Our math courses use the rigorous Art of Problem solving textbooks and videos. These cover the material in greater depth than traditional high schools, and include many challenging problems. For this reason, we recommend that you take things as slowly as you need and err on the side of completing a small number of problems with full understanding. Aim to spend between thirty minutes and an hour per day on math. You may skip the Challenge Problems if desired, but ensure that you complete at least 80% of the textbook before marking a course complete.
